After earning his MD from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1995, Bobby Chhabra, MD, remained at UVA for six more years, completing an internship and residency in general surgery, a fellowship in the orthopaedic research laboratory, and a residency in orthopaedic surgery. In 2001, he accepted a fellowship in hand, microvascular, and congenital hand surgery at the Hand Center of San Antonio and the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas. Dr. Bobby Chhabra returned to UVA’s Medical School and joined the faculty in 2002. Currently he chairs its Orthopaedics Department.

Board-certified in orthopaedic surgery and in surgery of the hand, Dr. Bobby Chhabra has authored or co-authored more than 100 articles in professional journals and has been invited to give at least as many presentations to professional audiences. He has also taught at over 150 conferences, grand rounds, and journal clubs. In addition to having held seven visiting professorships, Dr. Chhabra has chaired or co-chaired several educational symposia.

A member of numerous professional societies, Dr. Bobby Chhabra has served both the Virginia Orthopaedic Society and the UVA Orthopaedic Alumni Association as president and secretary-treasurer. He has received numerous professional honors, both from his peers and the popular press. Among these is the designation as one of the “Best Doctors in America.”
